DIY: Crop Top & Skirt Set

Being stuck at home has definitely brought out my creative side. I have been seeing this trend all over Tik Tok and Pinterest, where people take thrifted men’s shirts and make them into crop top and skirt sets. This is a super easy project to do. All you need is a large or extra-large men’s polo, scissors, elastic, a safety pin, and a sewing machine or you can hand stitch.

I found this super cute white and green striped Ralph Lauren polo shirt with a pink logo at my local Goodwill and knew this was going to be perfect for this project. I tried on the shirt and measured where I wanted to cut it to give me my separate pieces. With the top, I left it with a raw hem, but you could always hem the top. For the skirt, I turned it inside out and pinned where I wanted to sew for the waistline. Then I sewed all the way around, except for a little opening for the elastic. I measured the elastic and then attached the safety pin to one end and put it through the waistline. Then through the opening, I tied both ends of the elastic together and sewed the opening closed. That is seriously all it takes!

When the set was done I styled it with gold hoops, a chunky chain necklace, rectangle sunglasses, and a pair of white platform Teva’s. This was a super funky, yet preppy look and I absolutely loveeee the way that it turned out.

Look out on my Instagram for more drops of these sets for sale!
